The upgrade includes breathing hoses, mouthpiece components and tank attachments. If you are an existing owner you can obtain the complete kit free of charge from your Poseidon dealer.
The main element in the upgrade is the four hoses integral to the breathing circuit. Feedback from divers has shown that the original polyurethane spiral could be vulnerable to damage if the unit was mishandled when travelling. The new hoses contain a stainless steel spiral which enhances strength without sacrificing flexibility.
Poseidon engineers have also instigated a number of improvements to the Discovery mouthpiece. The materials previously used to manufacture the mouthpiece washer were prone to minor denting, which could eventually affect the accuracy of the valve lever. We are now using a harder material, which allows the lever to move freely and makes it easier to place the valve accurately when turning from OC to CC.
We have also included an improved mouthpiece membrane, reducing breathing effort, and a redesigned mouthpiece cover, which allows for better fitting of the HUD module.
The final component in the upgrade kit is a pair of tank attachment bars, built to revised strength criteria.
The Discovery upgrade kits will be shipped to distributors from end-June onwards, and will be accompanied by comprehensive fitting instructions.
Discovery upgrade components:
- Mouthpiece washer
- Mouthpiece membrane and membrane holder
- Mouthpiece cover
- Four breathing hoses
- Tank attachment bars

In recent years, Poseidon has developed several models of drysuits. From this season onwards the company will resume production and sales of wetsuits. This means that Poseidon now offers suits for diving in all waters, from the warmest to the absolute coldest.
- Poseidon thus offers a more complete range where recreational divers can find most of their scuba gear, says Mattias Lachner, Global Sales & Marketing Manager for Poseidon. Our thickest drysuit allows for diving in water below freezing. The water can be that cold without freezing possible when the salinity is high enough.
All Poseidon suits constitute an affordable option for the recreational divers who dive in all the waters, ranging from warm tropical waters to the absolute coldest waters.
- With Poseidon's new wetsuits alongside the existing drysuits we now have a suit for everyone, says Mattias Lachner.
The above statement is further reinforced by the size range of the wetsuits; they are available in sizes XS-XXXL.
All products can be seen in detail at www.poseidon.com/products/wetsuits

According to the Police Department in Bergen the diver was equipped with a Discovery rebreather from Poseidon.
Poseidon is keeping an ongoing dialogue with the Bergen Police Department and has offered to contribute to the investigation into the cause of the accident. If and when the Police so requests, the company will send its experts to Norway to extract and analyse the log files from the equipment's dive computer.
Poseidon will to the extent possible publish its results in the form of a Technical Bulletin on www.poseidon.com

TDI™ (Technical Diving International™), the largest technical certification agency in the world, is now offering training in the sports diver Rebreather, also known as Poseidon Discovery. TDI is seen as an innovator always bringing new, exciting and functional diving techniques and programs to the general diving public.
All of the 10, 000 TDI-certificated diving instructors around the world now have the opportunity to get educated in the Rebreather system. This means that the possibility för scuba divers to be taught by an Rebreather-educated instructor has increased considerably.
“I would call this the crucial step för the Rebreather to reach the great amount of recreational divers all over the world,” says Kurt Sjöblom, CEO of Poseidon Diving Group AB. “My prediction is is that 2010 will really be the year of the Rebreather!”

With Poseidon Discovery, a technique based on recycling breathing gas, it is possible to stay under water for several hours with at max 40 metres. The Discovery is a fully automatic closed circuit rebreather in which two continuously calibrating oxygen sensors verify electronic settings during the dive.
“Rebreather diving for recreational divers is set to make a breakthrough all over the world. It should be light, safe and simple to dive for everyone. Poseidon Discovery easily allows recreational divers to stay under water at least three times as long as scuba gear. Now we are delighted to see the start of deliveries” says Kurt Sjöblom, Managing Director of Poseidon.
